Heinrich stood tall, hand resting on the hilt of his sword. His King was presenting the crowd before him, the nobles and the poor. They cheered for him, their voices rising in praise. All was at peace as usual without disturbances. That was until a woman below screamed.
The crowd was in an uproar as they either moved towards or away from the commotion. The Germanic man stepped forward, his eyes scanning the area for anything to show him the cause. He noticed a figure pushing through the people, and the witnesses circling around. The King motioned for him to check it out while he would calm his people.
Running in a swift movement, he hurried down to the first floor. Exiting the main estate, Heinrich shoved the insolent beings to the side and found the source. His eyes widened for a moment, before he glared around him. Crouching down and sliding his hands until, he lifted the wounded girl and began a fast walk to the estate.
“Heinrich, what in God’s name are you doing? Why would you bring filth like that here? The King will not allow this.” A man named Gervas spoke, trying to stop him from moving forward.
Giving a hard gaze, he clutched the girl close to him. “My King will understand. He wouldn’t be a King if he couldn’t help a wounded citizen. Now if you please excuse me, I have a wound to attend to.” He shoved the man aside and continued, looking down at the small form in his arms.
She had (h/l) (h/c) hair that was caked in mud. Her short dress was tattered and worn, now stained with blood. Her skin was rough with dirt and bruised to a yellow tint. Her features showed she was in pain and scared.
He took her into the medic room, laying her on a covered bed. A woman hurried over, tearing at her dress and examining her wounds. Heinrich watched too, waiting to see what she was going to do, but she just looked over and gave him a frown. “Sir, I can’t do much for her. She might die in her state.”
“If you don’t help her now, I will kill you right here. Now get moving and clean her up afterwards. She’s filthy, and I don’t want her looking like that when she meets the King.” The woman nodded and removed all of the girl’s clothes, running to fetch a pail of water. As she rounded the corner, Heinrich scanned over the girl’s body, curiosity clouding his brain.
She was well formed, a plump chest and fitting curves. She was unbelievably ravishing and had a marvelous body. He growled at himself and looked away, waiting the return of the useless woman attending to the girl. He couldn’t let his carnal desires get the better of him, for he didn’t have time for a woman.
The nurse came back, setting the water beside the girl, taking a cloth and soaking it and light dabbing the blood-stained skin around the wound. She breathed out, inspecting the area. She sighed and smiled, folding another cloth and holding it against the small hole. “It seems the wound isn’t deep. She’ll be fine.”
Heinrich nodded, standing up and nodding. “Call in others to fetch some clothes and to help bathe her. Come get me when she wakes.” He narrowed his eyes and lowered his voice. “Don’t dare call for someone other than me.” Leaving the room he went back to the King, going to inform him of the happenings. After he gets the girl to speak with the King, he’s going to find her attacker, and kill him.
“Seems you found yourself a little pet. Are you going to keep the girl, for your own desires? Or are you going to torture her to hear her screams and drown in her blood?”
Turning, he recognized the voice. Gervas always had it out for him, since he was below him, and not a favorite of the King. “What are you doing, showing your horrendous face in front of me again? Be gone, get out of my sight, you filthy rat. I will do as I please with her, and you have no say on the matter. And you dare touch her, I will trot around with your head on a pike.”
Gervas laughed, stalking closer with a smirk. “So hateful. You know, I expected better of you, being the underling of a King. Plus, now you have a whore on your hands. Might want to check her, see if she has the scars. All of them have it, those rotten beings. They aren’t even human.”
“Silence. I won’t hear any more of your rants.”
He just continued, using his hands to talk as well. “If she’s the child I remember seeing long ago, then she most likely has the scars. I know her mother did.”
Heinrich grabbed him by the throat, gripping tightly. Gervas’s eyes grew wide and he flailed around, scratching at his hand. Killing him almost filled him with joy, if only the thought of scaring the girl didn’t stop him. He put pressure with his thumb, receiving a choking gasp from the man before him.
“Heinrich, let him go.”
Dropping him and turning around, he knelt down on one knee and held his hand over his heart. Looking up, he met the eyes of the King, who smiled warmly and motioned for him to stand.
Gervas laughed behind him, to which he turned and glared. “I bet you don’t even know her name, or realize who she is.” Holding his throat and taking deep breaths. “Little _____? Your pet is a whore.” He smirked proudly.
Within seconds his sword was out and pierced through the man’s stomach, out of his back. He choked and coughed up blood, his body slumping forward as his eyes glazed over and lost it’s light. Pushing him down, he turned, bowing to the King and storming off back to the girl.
His chest shook, the familiarity of the girl coming back to him. After all these years, she was still alive. On his way back, he ran into the nurse, who explained to him that she woke. Screams rose from the room and he ran towards it, panic running in his head. As he rounded the corner, he found her fully dress and cowering against a wall.
Stepping forward, she raised her head to look at him, looking for a sort of recognition. “_____, do you remember me?” She shook her head, but she calmed down and slowly stood. “My name is Heinrich, we met a while back.”
Her eyes grew wide and she glared. “How dare you speak his name! Is this some sick joke?!” She stepped forward, hitting him with her fists clenched. He grabbed her wrists and forced her to look at him. “I can’t believe it. You are alive. Why would you do this to me?! I thought you were dead! You never came back for me! Do you know what I’ve been through since you left? They sold me into slavery and treated me like a caged animal! I loved you, and you left me to die!
“I was only free because Augustus was there. Do you know what that was like? Having that man kill my ‘master’ in order to save me? That Roman is now a close friend of mine. All I wanted was to die each day, and every night I dreamt of you, my love. How could you just desert me like that?! Did you even once think about me!?”
“Yes, I did!” Heinrich yelled, tightening his grip. “I thought about you all the time. You… just looked different from when I saw you lying there.” He leaned forward and crushed his mouth to hers, wanting to taste her again. His hands caressed her cheeks, still trying to believe she’s real. Pulling back, he had to stop himself from taking her away. “We must go, you have to speak to the King.”
She nodded and he led her out of the room, to the hall. Gervas’s body had been taken away, and there was no one out in the corridor. He hoped the King would be in the main hall, waiting for them. To which he suspected right, as they walked in kneeling before him.
He stood and smiled at the two, his eyes saying he knew. “I must apologize to you. The man who attacked you has been found and disposed of. You may stay here with Heinrich, or you can leave the castle and I will promise you protection on your journey.”
(Name) blinked at him with her (e/c) eyes. “I wish to stay here. Though you will not be my King. My King is beside me and he will always be there.” Her hand took hold of Heinrich’s and the King smiled. “I thank you for blessing me with the fate of finding this place and finding my King.” She bowed and after being dismissed, left with Heinrich at her side.
